Care and concern for others lie at the heart of any strong community, and it is with great care and concern for the health and wellness of our current and admitted students that Penn Admissions has made the decision to cancel all large-scale, on-campus admitted student programming scheduled for April. This includes all Quaker Day events scheduled for April 6 and April 15, and Multicultural Scholars Preview programming scheduled for April 14.
We are disappointed that we are not able to welcome admitted students to our campus in our traditional fashion; however, social distancing and avoidance of unnecessary travel are both strong counters to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Cancelling our large-scale, on-campus Quaker Days events is a proactive measure that supports the wellbeing of the new members of the Penn community, as well as the faculty, staff, and students who already call our campus home.
Penn Admissions is excited – and well equipped – to support the new members of the Class of 2024 with web-based programming that showcases our vibrant community. We feel confident that admitted students will be able to learn, ask questions, and connect to our campus without needing to take on the burden of unnecessary travel. In particular, our recently launched virtual campus tour will help admitted students begin to explore their new home.
Detailed information about how admitted students can engage with our community in April will be made available to all our admitted students, their families, and their school counselors when we release admissions decisions in late March.
